SCHOOL-BASED APPRENTICESHIPS/TRAINEESHIPS

School Based Apprenticeships/Traineeships - a training system aimed at increasing the industry skills of students whilst still at school, combining paid work, a training course, and the school curriculum. Students work for a nominal period to successfully gain competence in a trade or vocational area.

  • An experienced SCIPS coordinator liaises between all relevant stakeholders – Students, Schools, Employers, Parents & RTO’s –a One Stop Shop to negotiate details

  • Students are paid a wage by the employer for time spent on the job

  • Credits in a traineeship or apprenticeship accumulate in a student’s QCAA Student Connect Account as part of their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) along with their school subjects

  • Training costs are met by the Government while students remain at school

  • Employers can trial different prospective employees before entering into a contract

  • Employers may be eligible for Financial Government Incentive
