SCHOOL-BASED APPRENTICESHIPS/TRAINEESHIPS
School Based Apprenticeships/Traineeships - a training system aimed at increasing the industry skills of students whilst still at school, combining paid work, a training course, and the school curriculum. Students work for a nominal period to successfully gain competence in a trade or vocational area.

An experienced SCIPS coordinator liaises between all relevant stakeholders – Students, Schools, Employers, Parents & RTO’s –a One Stop Shop to negotiate details

Students are paid a wage by the employer for time spent on the job

Credits in a traineeship or apprenticeship accumulate in a student’s QCAA Student Connect Account as part of their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) along with their school subjects

Training costs are met by the Government while students remain at school

Employers can trial different prospective employees before entering into a contract
