WORK EXPERIENCE
SCIPS supports multiple schools across SEQ in sourcing and organising Work Experience and Structured Work Placement for students in years 10-12.
The purpose of Work Experience is to equip students with essential employability and soft skills while giving them firsthand insight into the professional world.
By participating in real workplace environments, students can explore different industries, understand day-to-day job expectations, and make informed decisions about their future career pathways. This experience not only builds confidence and capability but also helps young people transition more smoothly from school into meaningful employment opportunities.
A little bit about the Work Experience Process...
-
An experienced Work Placement Officer liaises with school coordinators and employers throughout the entire process
-
School coordinators receive a Pathways account and log in details so that they can actively access all placement data and progress
-
Students complete an online registration form with SCIPS
-
The SCIPS team places each student based on their local area, transport options and industry preferences listed on their registration form
-
The SCIPS team sources local employers from both their extensive database, and through contacting other local businesses
-
Unless otherwise requested, the SCIPS team contacts all hosts on the students' first day to confirm their arrival and schedule a workplace visit to check in with both the student and employer
-
A report containing both employer and student feedback, and a photo of the student on work experience will be provided to the school
