SEEK'A TRADE

In 2026, SCIPS will partner with 10 Building and Construction Gateway to Industry Schools to deliver a pilot program of Seek’a Trade. Working with 100 Year 11 students across Greater Brisbane and surrounding regions, we will be supporting aspiring young tradespeople through a tailored ACE program and a one-week work experience placement within their chosen field.

We are now seeking businesses from Ormeau to Ipswich who are interested in hosting a work experience student during the first half of 2026. These students are motivated, hold their White Cards, and are genuinely passionate about entering the construction industry. Many are also looking to secure School-based Apprenticeships or Traineeships, and are eager to make a positive impression with their host employers.

Work experience placements are short-term, unpaid opportunities that give students valuable insight into life in the construction industry. Seek’a Trade placements run for 5-10 days and can be structured flexibly- either as a single block of one week or as one day per week across a term or half-term.

All students and host businesses are covered by workers’ compensation and public liability insurance through the Department of Education. No Blue Card is required for businesses to participate.

If you’re passionate about supporting the next generation of tradespeople, we’d love to hear from you! Please contact Ruby on 3010 1161, or via email at scips-a@slc.qld.edu.au.

This program is proudly funded by Construction Skills Queensland.
